Questions to Ask
Do you install seamless or sectional gutters? (Seamless is superior.) How long have you been in business? Are you insured? Do you inspect fascia before installing? Who does the actual installation — the owner, employees, or subcontractors? What gauge material do you use? Do you offer leaf guard options?
Red Flags
Door-to-door salespeople pushing "limited time" deals. Companies that quote without measuring your home. Unusually low prices that seem too good to be true (they usually are). No physical business address or verifiable reviews. Pressure to sign immediately.
Also be wary of companies that don't inspect your fascia before quoting. Installing new gutters on rotted fascia is a waste of money, and any reputable installer knows this.
What Good Looks Like
A good gutter contractor visits your home, measures carefully, inspects the fascia, explains what they recommend and why, provides a clear written quote, and answers your questions honestly — even if the answer is "you don't need what I sell."
Owner-operated businesses where the person quoting the job is the same person doing the work tend to provide the most consistent quality. There's no handoff where details get lost.
